Profile

Jane Johnson Architects (JJA) is a small practice based in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney.  We are interested and experienced in all aspects and scales of architectural design.

A bit of history

JJA was founded in 2013 by Jane Johnson after over 20 years of working in architectural practices in Sydney, Paris, Lyon & Amsterdam.

Jane has been fortunate enough to work with many talented and dedicated architects over the years, including Bruce Eeles & Associates (now Eeles Trelease), Nielsen Warren Architects, Interni, XY Architecture (Paris), Baneke van der Hoeven (Amsterdam) and Ara-Tri-O Architectes (Lyon). Jane is also proud to have spent 13 years working for Allen, Jack + Cottier (AJ+C), where she became a Director in 2008.  AJ+C is one of the largest, oldest and most respected architectural firms in Australia.

"I am passionate about design and architecture. The course of my career has held me in good stead to be able to tackle a variety of project type and size.  My passion for design is not determined by the scale of project, but by the potential of the project.

The only guarantee I am able to make is that I will be as thorough as I possibly can in everything I do. Design gets under my skin, and that is the main reason I am still an architect.  Ask any decent architect, it is not a profession for the faint hearted!  Whilst design is the raison d'être for me being an architect, it only represents a small portion of what it takes to get a building built."

Architectural Services

Design is the core of what we do, but seeing a building through from conception to completion requires many other skills.  Good communication is vital. Navigating the complexities of Statutory Planning, Australian Standards and building codes, liaising with consultants, construction documentation, tendering and contract administration are some of the other services we provide.

For the best possible result, ideally JJA is involved in the project from the initial client consultation, right through until the end of construction.
