This is a form model done as part of a sketch design process for a new house in Strathfield. This design was done in association with McIntosh Phelps Architects. The client's brief was for a new 5 bedroom house with generous indoor and outdoor entertaining areas. This model fitted into an overall site model, where the neighbour's houses were built too so the proposed design could be seen in it's immediate context.
The Sketch Design process is typically the first stage of JJA's scope of work for a single dwelling. By listening to the client's brief, analysing the site and reviewing local government development regulations the design concept evolves. In this case, JJA and McIntosh Phelps proposed that the house be a progression of indoor and outdoor rooms, linked by a circulation spine.
These are examples of the type of analysis done by JJA at Sketch Design stage, illustrating how the proposed design works in environmental and planning terms.
These are examples of hand sketched drawings, a typical method JJA uses to present the Sketch Design to a client.
